We did too growing up. Funny though. Our rabbi didn’t Bat Mitzvah girls. He said it wasn’t within tradition. Granted, it’s not within Orthodox tradition, but Reform? My mother always thought he had an anti-women prejudice and I think she was right.

Many Reform synagogues are leaning far more conservative these days.

SInce the first banot mitzvah in Reform synagogues took place in the 1930s, I would argue he was a little behind the times.

The veer is to the more religiously conservative right now, (or the more religiously Judaic—we went through some years of pretending to be Episcopalians) but generally I think resistance to women’s full inclusion is going down, even in communities where the Hebrew and the musaf is going up.

The haredim are a whole different issue, of course.
