I think it’s perfectly possible to be ‘sex-postiive’ and still demonize certain kinds of sex, for example. Like, if a naive girl gets pressured into having sex by her much older boyfriend, one can demonize that interaction without taking agency away from girls that are not coerced into having sex.

The one point that very importantly is made from the ‘sex-positive’ movement, though, is that overall demonization of sex makes it less likely for women to report sexual crimes, given that they also have to admit having had sex. This point is not unique to the sex-positive people, though.

I think sex-positive is a great message, but I think it needs a lot of care not to wind up celebrating sex that is abusive.

It also becomes, very easily, a celebration of certain kinds of sexual behavior over others. If you’re not sparkly and rebellious enough, you don’t get the same respect shown to your choices.
