Well that happens here too so getting to a real bottom line is a little thicker than I can sort out. Presumably the accountants for Burger King got the math right, but what was the motivation? Buy this big company just for tax breaks? That seems a little unlikely to me. But I have been surprised before.
I think the real motivation is what I expressed earlier today. They saw a way to grow their businesses and there are synergies between the companies. TH lets BK grow a breakfast business to compete with McD’s. BK gets to use the TH properties as room to grow - co locate business, etc.,
I think there’s solid reasons besides taxes for this to work out for both.
