Thereās the small matter of empire, the treatment of colonized peoples,
The initial post was talking about the ethnic makeup of the UK, not the ātreatment of colonized peoplesā.
Thereās the small matter of empire,
Britain stopped doing Empire several decades ago while the US is continuing with its efforts in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere and holding tenaciously on to the bits it grabbed off native Americans, the Cubans, Hawaiians, Japanese etc. through military conquest. As for brutality, well the āTrail of Tearsā happened about the same time as the various massacres in colonial India but I canāt think of an equivalent in period of the brutal suppression of the Philippine insurgents by the American conquerors a hundred years ago. We did have the Malayan Emergency later though but I could match that with, say, the Fallujah massacre as recently as 2005.
