What I’m guessing albusteve was seeing was a backwards swastika. Actually since the sanskrit symbol came first, the swastika is the backward one.

Actually swastikas go both ways all around the North Indian subcontinent. I’m not sure if there’s a different meaning to them on which way it goes.
