drifting…the original remarks considered, is terrorism a threat or not…I say it certainly is…losing a “tall building or two” with people in them is utterly unacceptable
If it’s totally unacceptable, what lengths would we need to go to to have a perfect success rate? Would we be willing to harm our economy and become isolationist, making interstate and international travel far more difficult?
I think terrorism is a threat, one threat among many to our country. I think a pandemic (which could also be man-made) that spreads due to horrible health care practices, anti-vaxxers, and general lack of health and emergency response infrastructure is a thousand times the threat to America that an airplane bomber is.
But a pandemic isn’t the interesting narrative that a terrorist is, so it doesn’t get the play on cable news, doesn’t capture people’s imagination, doesn’t have an easy adversary to point at, etc.
