Certainly sounds like an interesting route to consider. Question is, would it pass muster before SCOTUS. Scalia in Heller acknowledged that the 2A has limits, but those limits have not yet been defined.

I think it’s a lot more likely to pass SCOTUS than the kind of uncompensated taking of private property that’s in the NY SAFE Act and that Feinstein’s proposing. More importantly it’s a lot more likely to have a real, measurable impact on gun crime, which I was under the impression was the actual goal here.
