One of my best friends from high school well full-metal wingnut way back in the Reagan days. In high school he was a neo-hippy peacenik. Went to college, got a job on Wall Street, and his politics swung 180 degrees. He’d carry a handgun to work, according to mutual friends still in the NY area. We haven’t talked since our freshman year in college, so I don’t know what transpired to make him a raging RWNJ.

One of my best college buddies later came out of the closet and went from being left-leaning to full-on Republican. I gave up trying to talk politics as he turned everything into some sort of personal attack.
He does not seem to see any inherent contradiction in supporting a party whose Vice President would like to send him and his husband to conversion shock therapy.
