Really, the only reason is medical. If there is a chance you are susceptible to sickle cell or whatever else might seem to be ancestry dependent. I guess if you are into genelogy, it would be important, but no more important than knowing your own family’s history—as with genetics and diseases.
Yes, that’s a VERY good point. Let the scientists and researchers do their thing, and the politicians and those without a vested interest ignore it, is my point.
