re: #196 Great White Snark

With all respect to how abuses must be opposed and set aside-
My opposition is proportionate to the quality of the public school system. Where those are solid schools whose students enjoy good solid scholastic results, we hardly have any need for vouchers or home schooling.

Where the public school system fails, I want those options on the books. My motivation is completely about enabling parents to have a good school at hand, or be able to adjust as required by circumstances.

Then make sure the options actually apply. Vouchers are a solution for parents, not schools. And vouchers are only a solution for parents when they cover ALL costs for school, not just tuition.

As it works out, where schools fail, it is in areas where spending per student is below other more successful schools, and it is an indirect, blunderbuss approach that has far more effects in others other than effectiveness in educating students.

IOW, the law of unintended consequences apply to EVERYONE.
