I’m not so sure about that. Perhaps if the GOP goes all-in on Trump being their Eternal Dear Leader (a la North Korea), that might finally be too much for the media both-siderists that are propping up Republicans at every opportunity.

I don’t see the GOP reforming unless it suffers crushing losses in several elections in a row, and IMO those losses aren’t going to happen as long as the media holsters for Republicans.
