We’ve talked about this for at least a decade now. Really it started back when Murdoch started Fox News, when he realized there was a contingent of the American population who were being underserved by the NY based, educated, “media”.

I think I’d go back further, and blame Ted Turner for creating CNN in 1980.

The business model upon which Fox News is built requires news-o-tainment, which is inevitable when you build a 24-hour news network and then realize there ain’t 24 hours worth of news on most days. People become addicted to the clickbait you are forced to sell to keep your doors open.
