Australians have just held a non-binding plebiscite on same-sex marriage, at the behest of the (center-right) Liberal-National coalition. The results are being announced now.

12,727,090 people responded, 79.5% of the Australian people. 78% participation from 18-19 year olds. Only the Northern Territory was notably below 70%.

Yes 7,817,247 or 61.6% of clear responses.
No 4,873,987 or 38.4% of clear responses.
(36,800 responses were unclear)

Every state and territory recorded a majority Yes result, with New South Wales at 57.8% with the lowest Yes result.

Of the 150 Commonwealth electorates, 133 had Yes majorities.
