IANAL and have no experience in anything related to legislation governing medical procedures BUT would like the opinion of those who are attorneys.

According to legal experts, the Tennessee law has no exception to protect the life or well-being of the mother but does offer an affirmative defense as protection if the procedure is done to save the woman’s life or protect her from grievous bodily harm. Is the distinction between an “exception” and an “affirmative defense” a mere technicality or does it have serious ramifications in the real world?
