I don’t generally comment on Bristol Palin, but you did touch on something important there. She’s doing this for pay. She has a consultancy. She was a paid spokesperson for Candie’s Foundation.

Once someone is paid to go and speak, I feel that moves their agenda into an area where criticism is totally legitimate.

I do think, however, that more than a small tinge of misogyny can creep in when people attack her. The whole ‘getting knocked up = dumb’ equation that a lot of people seem to use is one that makes me mad.

Me too. The one thing the timing of this proves is that she’s not dumb. One tidbit the US Weekly article has about Bristol is that her High School GPa was 3.47, which is very good. She’s a smart person who did a foolish thing.
