Regarding the last two statements, I was intending to say this is a real sign of moderation within the GOP on social issues anyway. Is Sarah Palin far away from Obama’s civil unions positions? I kinda thought they both opposed them—or was it just that Obama opposed ‘marriage’?

I live in the South and that sounds like a bunch of unprincipled people switching sides to stay in office. Not because Democrats are being mean to them.

And let’s face it, the South has never been a progressive segment of the country. It’s been dragged kicking and screaming into every major social and economic change over the last 150 years.

When Democrats start jumping ship in the Northeast, West, Midwest and Southwest, I will get alarmed.
