re: #187 thedopefishlives

His question is conditional on the R’s actually winning the White House. Which, considering the absolute torpedoing of their own credibility that they’ve been doing, is not likely to happen any time in the next, oh, half-century.

I wish I could share your confidence, but I’m cautious about 2016. If you look at who’s been President since Truman, it’s interesting how regular the oscillation is, back and forth between Democrat and Republicans. Starting with Eisenhower: 8R - 8D - 8R - 4D - 12R - 8D - 8R - 8D (so far for Obama). Seems like many voters just kinda feel that one party has been in power for a long time, and it’s time for a change.

I know the Republicans have alienated many people who aren’t white, male, well-to-do, and batshit insane. But they also have lots of control in some state legislatures and state houses, and in 2016 they will fight for every electoral vote.

So I’m afraid the 2016 presidential election may be a nail-biter. But believe me, I hope you’re right and I’m wrong.
