The polling isn’t there to inform, it’s there to push a narrative, in this case that Trump still has a chance in November because the voters that Biden needs are defecting or planning to stay home. You’ll remember that that was much the same narrative in 2020, that the youth and minority vote was pissed with the Dems over choosing Biden instead of Bernie or another “progressive” candidate and would stay home in “protest.”

It is also there to promote the horse race that the networks need to keep viewers tuned in and attentive.
