The soil the wine grapes were grown in also has a huge impact, which is why I suggested a french vs. American Chard. You’ll taste it.

There are only a few real places where Terrior exists.

In real world terms, the wines of Washington State and France are grown on the same latitude and the same weather and environment. They are nearly indistinguishable in taste and complexity. It really comes down to personal preference, some of the most respected sommeliers in the world would not be able to give a definitive answer on which region was better.
