re: #206 wheat-doggha — oo bird outside my window

TV and movies give the wrong impression. They are fiction, but gun nuts don’t discriminate reality from fantasy that well.

For example, I watching an NCIS: Los Angeles episode recently. The perp in this case was a vet with PTSD and was going to blow himself and the people around him up. The trigger was in his right hand. Agent Kenzie was in front of him, and Agents G and Sam behind him. Sam yelled, “Kenzie, elbow!” and crackshot Kenzie fires her handgun, neatly disabling (but not destroying) perp’s right arm. No BOOM.

Un real is tic.

But it saves the heroes from having to kill a veteran with PTSD, because that would be a major bummer. In real life, those agents would have shot first, and talked later. But that doesn’t make for adequate drama.

NCIS: Los Angeles has ridiculous shootouts in almost every episode.

The only reason I watch it is because Linda Hunt is the baddest badass on TV.
