I have been finding myself liking this particular bit from Walter Mitty: ” Sometimes I don’t. If I like a moment, for me, personally, I don’t like to have the distraction of the camera. I just want to stay in it.” It’s basically not taking a photo and keeping the moment for yourself. Let your mind’s eye remember it.

Of course, that’s easier when not in the mood to take photos, but it still applies here. Sometimes it’s best to enjoy the moment, and not deal with the distraction.

When the Older Boy was born, I didn’t photograph it or video it. When the Younger Boy was born, Mrs. FBW insisted I videotape it. I felt far less involvement in the second birth.
