I don’t understand the self imposed early deadline. Trump could’ve announced his VP pick at the convention. That would’ve been the obviously theatrical thing to do. This bungled to shit, regret laden announcement makes no sense at all.

It makes sense if you realize Trump had to be dragged kicking and screaming into picking Mike Pence. He was throwing a tantrum, that’s the real reason for the delays.
