I had never heard of the Comfort before today, but I have to say, it has to be one of the grandest ships in the entire United States Navy. Could you imagine a more welcome sight than that sleek vessel steaming into harbor?

The problem is, when not in use they almost deactivate Comfort. It will take 5 days to staff and stock her, then sailing time from Baltimore… a week, at the earliest.

The UN ofiices are destroyed. The Red Cross building is down. Doctors Without Borders reported last night (via twitter) that they had major damage and staff unaccounted for. (All good points for personal preparedness, no matter where you are.)
