Right but here’s the other thing that when you think about it is stupid. Christmas and New Years Day fall a week from each other. A week. I can’t think of two major holidays that are that close together. I frankly don’t care what someone says to me. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, even Happy Hanukkah even though I do not celebrate the latter not being Jewish.

Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah all occur within a three week period. “Chag Sameach!” (Happy Holidays!) is the appropriate greeting.
