Are you telling me that other countries don’t do 800 days long campaigns?

Most countries don’t have regularly scheduled elections where you could stretch out the calendar this way.

I’ve tended to think that this schedule made our system stable, because you could plan even when a change in leadership was going to occur. But that’s failed in the super-partisanship that we’ve evolved into and having the Tea Party stopping the function of government. Now, I think we really should have elections where, if you win, you get control of government to implement your plans. If they suck bad enough, you’ll get thrown out.
