Honestly why the hell are people calling 911 at all for non emergencies and why are the cops humoring that fuckery in the first place. I’ve literally only called 911 a couple of times that I can recall, once here when my Dad fell and suffered an interochanteric hip fracture and once in Seattle when I witnessed an aggravated domestic assault in the parking lot below my apartment’s kitchen window. 911 doesn’t exist for people to voice their vague suspicions, it’s there for real shit.

I’m way late on this, and I don’t know if it’s the same everywhere, but it used to be you could call the police in your precinct and they would at a minimum know where you were and how to get there. For the last 35 years, at least in Seattle/King County, the cops have had an unlisted number, and the only way to communicate with them is 911.

You’re talking to a dispatcher somewhere to hell and gone in the South End, you can’t explain to them where you’re located, and if you’re not reporting a murder, they’ll either laugh in your face or threaten you with what the penalty is for making a frivolous 911 call. Or both.
