I can only suspect that the Israelis, on top of their better training, are highly motivated (cannot say anything about relative pay/benefits scales)
The Israeli security people know what depends on their doing a good job. We hire people whose main motivation is to get through a shift without incident and without being taken to task for violating rules or procedure.
And yes, we need to employ a form of profiling, namely terroist profiling. Which is a lot more complex and nuanced than simple racial profiling which is a cheap cop-out for the undertrained.
