He was and subsequently while I feel the elder Bush was definitely a hawk on foreign affairs, i don’t think he was reckless either and he surrounded himself with reasonable people like Gates, pre 9/11 Cheney, Brent Scowcroft, Jim Baker, and others who understood that. I do give W Bush some credit for not doing what Mitt Romney did and that’s actually protest in favor of a draft and then go hide out in France doing missionary work. I know the mission work is important ot the LDS church but at the same time, Mitt could have put his money where his mouth was adn served. My grandfather served with many young LDS men in Korea.

I think he actually served in combat and appreciated those who served in combat.
