I can see how it might work out ok for Iraq, or at least the shia majority. Iran can lend the necessary firepower and brutality better than we can at this point. Iran would be a reliable ally for Iraq and could ensure stability for a very long time. But Iran has it’s own interest to expand power, further its nuclear program, spread its brand of Islam and support its own terrorism operations around the globe. We really shouldn’t put ourselves in the position to assist them in accomplishing their goals.
