59-22 Switch-blade knives.

(a) Possession or sale, etc., prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, carry, or possess any knife with an automatic spring or other device for opening and/or closing the blade, commonly known as a switch-blade knife.

While the police might be technically correct, this law’s “and/or” clause is so overly broad that it would ban any knife with a bias towards closure, which is damned close to every folding knife on the market right now. The only ones it would allow are friction folder designs such as the traditional Opinel or Higo No Kami.
