As a gay person who has an obvious personal interest in the subject of homophobia, I’m skeptical that a clean distinction between fear and hate exists in the way needed for Wright’s thesis to get off the ground.

In my view hate and fear in politics converge to basically the same thing, especially after application of decades of propaganda designed to amplify fear and turn it into hate.
