There was a spate of those kind of books in the ’70s. I didn’t read the Lindsey book, but I did read the Immanuel Velikovsky fiction, Worlds in Collision. Although I was still in high school, I knew it was total bullshit. Then, as a freshman, I met a girl who said she had helped Velikovsky prepare the manuscript, and she worshiped the guy. She said it was all true. I lost interest in her very quickly.
I remember a Baptist girlfriend in the 8th grade (around 1970) giving me “666” by Salem Kirban. a Christian graphic novel about the Apocalypse. Even back then, I recognized that it was total crap.
