Well, I don’t know if it would really ruin it, any more than the fact that he’s not the descendant of American slaves, had the luxury of attending fancy prep schools, was handed cushy stepping stone jobs without having to earn them, etc. It would certainly ding the narrative a little bit, though. And I guess even that could be enough to explain his insistence on keeping the birth certificate private. It’s not a great reason, but we know the thing exists and he doesn’t want anyone to see it. I can’t really think of a better reason.
