Hard to get western booze unless you have connections?

Not as hard as it used to be. You can buy it in some hypermarkets, for a pretty penny, and meanwhile hope it’s not imitation shit made with paint thinner or rubbing alcohol. I can get whisky, rum, vodka, Jack D, scotch and even tequila here, but the selection is limited. The bars charge exhorbitant prices for Western booze. I’m on a teacher’s salary, so I limit myself to Chinese beer unless someone else is buying.

Chinese booze, baijiu, ranges from exquisite and very expensive to industrial byproduct and very cheap.
