Some ‘school resource officers’ might actually be police paraprofessionals. Otherwise, arming a janitor is just plain stupid. So is an M4 in any school west of Chechnya.

In Gainesville, “School Resource Officers” are all sworn police officers, though some might think that this is an excuse to acquire M4s that can also be used by the department’s SWAT team. Radley Balko would certainly think that.
