I swear, I think there’s a lot of white people that never got over the Civil Rights Movement. I still remember that we celebrated Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee on the same day as MLK and I’m not even 30 yet.
Absolutely.
One example: John Kerry got 20% of the white vote in Alabama in 2004, in an election he lost by nearly 3 million votes nationally.
OTOH, in 2008, when Obama won the election by 10 million votes nationally, he only got 9% of the white vote in Alabama.
