I can hope against hope that Palin’s victimhood will result in more people understanding what a blood libel really is, how often it was used against Jews, and why being accused of creating a climate of violence with dangerous rhetoric is nothing, at all, like a blood libel.

As I said before, what angers me most is that Palin’s accusation of the blood libel was towards people who think that her violent rhetoric means she bears some responsibility for the dangerous climate of violence. Included among those critics is Giffords. So, to me, Palin is accusing a Jew of blood libel. That is beyond the pale for me.

I don’t think Giffords is going to exactly change her mind about violent rhetoric if (and I hope so much that she does) regain her faculties after this attack.

Maybe she should have used the term “Witch Hunt” and Christine O’Donnell would take offense.
