re: #193 webevintage

I have a question of any car folks here.
Please give me good reasons to talk my 19 year old from buying a 1978 Datsun 280z Coupe for $1600.
I have no problem with the age, vintage is fine with me, I just am worried that;
a. he does not need a sporty car as his first car
and
b. parts will be hard to find for a Datsun
and
C. it is a stick and he has no idea how to drive a 5 speed

He’s 19 and it’s his money so I have a hard time saying no without some information to back up my argument.
I don’t think “you’ll put your eye out” will work.

my kids never owned or used a car without airbags…that I know of
