Well, I think the point is not that she’s a sociopath for what she did — as the Stanford Experiment showed, ordinary and normal people have the capacity for cruelty and sadism — but she’s a sociopath because even now she feels no guilt or remorse.

The people in the Stanford Prison Experiment, in contrast, were horrified and remorseful about their own actions just a little while later. There’s an interview somewhere with the most sadistic of the ‘guards’ where he talks about it.

Yes, you took the words right out of my mouth. It is her complete lack of remorse which is so troubling. I understand that good people sometimes do horrible things because of a “mob” mentality, or perhaps even a deeply misplaced sense of duty. But, when 5 years pass, and you feel no shame, guilt or remorse for those actions, it’s symptomatic of serious mental illness.
