There are different kinds of tv viewing. I think I know the kind you are talking about here though - I have family members who do the same. It’s just an endless round of soaps, especially medical soaps. Gaah.

My late husband was a TV addict, and I do mean addict. It was pathological. He couldn’t stand for the TV to ever be off. He would sit and fidget, pace, and get increasingly agitated until he could turn it on. It was pretty terrible to live with and probably one reason I watch so little TV today.
