I think so. I also think he has more individual character than his son does. Although H.W Bush like W had a privileged background, I think he was more self aware than his son was and maybe that came with being thrust into maturity at a very young age when he was a combat pilot while most of us were sophomores in college. Could personality too. I always got the vibe from W that he was a little too light hearted.

George H. W. is the first President I remember (I was born during the Reagan years) and he always left a deep impression on me.
