No, the risk was too high for that. My own view is that Greenwald, like Assange, is so arrogant that he cannot imagine a plan of his failing. His ego does not allow him to contemplate how others might anticipate his actions.

Why do you think the plan failed? He got to drum up some publicity at a time when interest in his story was flagging. That data was encrypted and could have been sent via any number of more secure channels. Sending Miranda through Heathrow was a pretty obvious way of ensuring a search went down. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Brits got an anonymous tip pointing them in his direction. The way he lied by omission about Miranda’s role as a mule wasn’t a coincidence, he was trying to spin the story from the outset as the US instructing its allies to bully him for the sake of bullying him.
