Oh, I agree, but it reminds us that there was a time when Republicans could be civil if they chose to be.

He kind of really didn’t have a choice. Obama was popular in New Jersey and Christie had re-election the next fall. I’m not saying he only made nice with Obama because of that consideration but it wasn’t like his motivations were entirely alturistic. I mean did I like Peter King in New York of all people calling out his fellow Republicans for how they acted on disaster relief to the Eastern Seaboard? Hell yes but it just means he was serving his own interests. The problem with Republican legislators especially in Washington is they’re fine with “big government” if they know it will benefit their constituents but they hate it for other people. I wouldn’t oppose relief from FEMA if a giant tornado hit let’s say Steve King’s district in Iowa because the people there are our fellow Americans. When disaster strikes our country, we have an obligation both legally and morally to help but Steve would never extend that same belief to New Yorkers or Puetro Ricans. That is what is wrong with the conservative mindset.
