I have a knife that size. It’s a similar to a Victorinoix Swiss Army knife w/4 inch blade. I know what it can or can’t do.

I also know that the cops have various means at their disposal to deal with people without using firearms. Tasers. LAPD has tasers.

Try holding on to anything with a taser. You can’t.

No effort to even try.

And I understand the need to use deadly force when addressing someone who has a deadly weapon. Yet, the LAPD fired away into a crowded scene, reminiscent of the NYPD officers who fired into a crowd to stop a suspect - injurying bystanders along the way. Here, no bystanders were injured, and that’s by sheer dumb luck.

Not just dumb luck. Fewer shots were fired, and I think more of if not all the shots hit the intended target. So not so much dumb luck as good aim and controlled fire.
