And I’ll add—just because you live in a solidly red or blue state, it doesn’t mean you can just vote for whomever and it won’t matter. Maybe not in the electoral college, but the popular vote matters as well—in terms of mandate, and on the off-chance that the horror of winning the electoral college while losing the popular vote exists.

Of course, anyone can vote for whomever they choose, but I’m hearing a lot of “Well, my state’s a done deal, so I can vote for (fill in name other than the eventual Dem candidate) and have a clear conscience.” In the primary, sure. But in the general I say, nope—every DEM vote counts—that’s my opinion. YMMV
