Depends on the situation and nature of the crimes. We’re in unprecedented times when it comes to this stuff since no one has been accused of inciting an armed insurrection against the US govt, let alone an occupant of the WH being the one inciting that insurrection so that he could stay in power beyond the statutory date.

Trump’s own statements and actions are sufficient for an indictment. What the DOJ needs to do is roll up everyone between Trump and those who carried out the actions on 1/6. That’s what they are doing and need to do faster.

Their job would have been easier had they actually arrested those coming out of the Capitol instead of letting them slink away unobstructed. I get why it might make sense to defuse the situation and arrest after with all the photo/video evidence that could be obtained from within the Capitol grounds, let alone the videos by the insurrectionists themselves. But by doing so, they also let key individuals escape and makes their arrest/capture harder/delayed.
