I don’t believe that because only about half of Iranians are Persians. Most of the Mullahs are Azeri Turks, not Persians. Along with Azeris, there are several other ethnic groups that make up the other half of Iran’s population. So at least some of the Basij must be non-Persians.

Like, say, Paleostinians?
