Serious question, though. At what level of “Our economy is in the shitter” do we stop vomiting dollars all over the place trying to be the World Cops?

I know that sounds flippant, but I mean, seriously think about it. How many problems are there all over the world that we don’t solve every single day? There is always a valid humanitarian reason to get involved, but at some point the raw economic reality has to be taken into consideration. It costs money, money that we don’t really have right now, given how busy we are slashing our social safety net back home.
