Were I the GOP, I’d be rather pissed that the FBI’s report came so close to the RNC. The dumpster fire that the convention is guaranteed to be will suck all the air out of the political realm for at least a week, compromising any potential gains from it. The polls will temporarily reflect voter dissatisfaction, then bounce back when they get a good look at the alternative on full display. And if there’s a floor fight, even if Trump comes out the victor, the stories of “GOP in Turmoil” will only further hurt the party.
