It’s an interesting legal question, but we’re talking kids’ lives here. I want the English teacher and the guidance counselor to have a blade to use if their Glock jams or they run out of ammo, know what I mean? If we can’t get bayonets, we should at least pass legislation requiring teachers to sharpen their teeth.

I have known teachers who seemed to have already done so.
Heavy broadswords might be an optimum solution, at least in elementary grades. That way a mis-behaving child could not use the teacher’s weapon effectively even if the little delinquent could get hold of it.
